Photography: Njenga Jed [@jedvialens]
Yule Burlefinger is said to be a carrier of wor(l)ds, a free-spirited wanderer, and a ‘lamp person’ –
Through poetry and photography, she shares her journey of self-love: Her writing is interwoven with strong imagery and thick language, whilst her photography explores a sensitive approach to capture subtle emotions, hidden traces, and nuanced ways of being in and seeing the world.
She uses performance to disrupt the algorithm of (public) spaces and to raise questions that touch upon the confinements of social structures and the depth of our longings as humans. Yule Burlefinger has an embodied experience of how art can change the stories that we tell ourselves and of how it allows us to tap into the wisdom of our bodies – she shares her tools in her work as well as in workshops and coaching sessions – upon request.
“- cause our existence is not a garden, it is a jungle
and the storms of life are not meant to be controlled
blindfolded wander, wonders untold,
I was told that one day,
our wings will unfold.”
- Yule Burlefinger
Photography
From portrait and nude photography to landscape and street photography, Yule’s work aims to unveil and capture the subtle textures, the hidden layers, and the unknown spaces within and without.
// This is part of what the waves […] have washed ashore.
These waves have left traces, in the water, on land, these waves have created shells with pearls and notches of compassion in the sand. And I know that something will stay, in the midst of change.
